Morton Salt Girl
Scope
Client wanted us to create the Morton Salt Girl logo out of string to be displayed in Morton Salt’s office in Kentucky.
Accuracy is crucial being that this is the iconic brand mascot of the Morton Salt company.

Prototype
A section of the graphic was printed and translated on a small backer. This small prototype was not fully informative as far as how the full production of the stringing would go.
Going to full scale was very different, but this was just proof of concept for the clients. I did learned that random stringing was not desirable and looked to chaotic.
Process
The process was straightforward. The graphic was translated into vectors in Illustrators and printed to scale on a plotter.
Each hole was hand punched roughly a 1/4” apart. Estrucian pins were then hammered an exact amount into the backer.
Stringing was very strategic. All stringing was roughly evenly strung in a pattern until a certain depth of color was achieved.
